If you could reach into any movie ever made and pull out one weapon, what would it be? Mine would be Dirty Harry's Smith & Wesson Model 29, there's something about that gun on screen that never gets old. It basically made the .44 Magnum a household name overnight and people are still chasing that aesthetic decades later.

That Model 29 is hard to beat on screen, Dirty Harry basically turned it into a legend!
That revolver basically became a character itself in those films and still looks iconic today

Yup Dirty Harry made the Model 29. S&W almost discontinued the Model 29 because sales were so bad. Special Forces units bought some but bad PR almost killed the 29. People said the .44 mag was so powerful that the round broke wrist and arms and even dislocated shoulders. That of course was not true. When I worked in broadcasting back in the day I had a friend who was an broadcast engineer and we went shooting a lot. He had a 29 and a seven year old son who shot the 29 and I figured if the kid could shot that sucker without any ill effects I could shot the sucker. And if you shot the 29 with .44 Specials the 29 was a pussy cat. BTW: In the move Eastwood admits that he is really shooting .44 specials and not the .44 mag.

I wish I had not sold my Model 19 though.

Back to the original question I like single actions and would like a Colt single action and had a chance to buy one but Colt quality is hit and miss for the price. So instead have three Ruger single actions

I also have a 1873 Winchester clone after seeing Winchester 73. Also now have a 1885 Winchester clone from C. Sharps Arms. I watch to many cowboy movies.

That’s a great collection! I get the appeal of single actions and those Winchester clones, movies really do make them iconic. It’s fun how firearms and film intersect, shaping what we appreciate and collect.
