Hey everyone, I’m curious about what you keep near your bed at night. Do you have a favorite firearm for home defense? Any tips on safes or lights?

I have my every day carry 9mm within arms reach.....plus a dedicated flash light. I shoot this gun the most so I am familiar with it's operation and switching mags or clearing stoppages. Also in the bedroom I have my ready to go long gun in a small gun locker that is key locked so it is available. The key is close by and stays there so I always know where it is.

20 gauge 870 with 5 shells, all with 1 oz of 6's. Just remember, or if you didn't know, putting a light on a handgun is NOT a good idea. If you ever you use the light to see something, and it happens to be a person, you've just committed a felony by pointing a gun at someone, and WILL go to jail. Take a USCCA class and find out things you never knew.

Judge 410 000 buck, in master bed room, desk in living room, H & R 22 9 SHOT with CCI mini mags, gun room a S & W 38 K 15 158 gr HPs.

Ummm..... two things.
  1. You do not need to point a light directly at anything in order to see what it is.
  2. If you are breaking into my house, you are getting a gun pointed at you regardless of a light. I am not committing a felony by doing so.
There are other reasons why you might not want to put a light on a gun but be careful doling out "legal advice" online, what might be true for one state may not be true for another.

To the original question, I keep a 1911 nearby to allow me to get to the safe and the rest of my home defense setups.

I have a 9mm pistol with a mounted light. I also have in a nightstand drawer a set of electronic ear muffs. Nobody ever talks about hearing protection for use with a bedroom gun. I change the batteries every year even if they still are working.

I have protection. Nearby. Specifics are my own. This is just me but no one needs to know what I have close by unless they are brothers who know where everything else is if needed. Stay sharp!

That's true on hearing protection. I keep special ear plugs near by too and will use them if I can. Even suppressors are loud inside.
