Naming guns seems weird to me honestly

I see people naming their rifles and it feels odd. It's a tool, not a pet. I don't name my tools or my truck. What's the point? Someone explain why you do this because apparently lots of people do. What makes you want to name your guns?

I don't bother naming my guns. But I know that for most people, it seems like names just happen over time, tied to stories and memories. If a gun is connected to something memorable, it gets a name whether you planned it or not.

That makes sense. I guess it’s less about the gun itself and more about the experiences and memories attached to it over time.

Back in the old muzzle loading days when one had only one rifle it mad sense to name your rifle. After all your very life depended on it. But today I'd quickly run out of names if I started naming my guns.

That makes a lot of sense. When you relied on one rifle for everything, it earned a name. These days, with multiples, the tradition doesn’t translate as naturally.
