I've tried all three and learned something from each. The .308 is my reliable choice and good for my usual hunting distances. The .300 Win Mag gave me extra range but the recoil was noticeable...the 7mm Rem Mag was a surprise, it shot flatter than the .308 and kicked a bit less than the .300 in my rifles. I'm still figuring out my favorite for general use, if you've used these calibers a lot, which one suits you best?

7MM Remington mag necked to 6.5mm or 30-06 necked down to 6.5mm-06 would be my go to guns if they were factory loaded. I'm told the 6.5-06 is a factory load in parts of Africa and is used as a varmint round for their big and nasty varmints over there.

If I liked the 7mm mag for it's lighter recoil and wanted even less recoil and a really flat shooting cartridge and I reloaded I'd neck to 7mm to 6.5, develop some loads and never look back.
