I live in the northwestern corner of Montana (20 plus years). I love hunting, fishing and trapping, and shooting anything that uses arrows, bolts, bullets, balls or shot.
I'm not sure how much luck has to do with it. We've stayed through long, sometimes extremely cold, snowy winters. High cost of living. Low wages and high rent and/or real-estate prices. Our nearest Walmart is a 90-minute drive of which 30 of that is just reaching the pavement over a horrible pothole filled, dusty, snowy, muddy, or icy road off the mountain. We've had grizzly bears damage two vehicles and nearly every building on our property including breaking the door jamb and deadbolt lock on a small guest cabin and attempting to dig up our root cellar. Our garden and chicken house/pen are surrounded by electric fence as are three of our outbuildings and what's left of our root cellar.People say those of us living in the Rockies are lucky. Must be as I've lived for over 45 years.
Welcome aboard.I'm from the NW corner also, and like you shoot just about everything, except Glocks
