I need something reliable that can handle rough roads to hunting spots. Toyota guys say Tacomas last forever. Ford guys say F-150s are the only real truck. I just want something that won't leave me stranded 30 miles from nowhere. What would you buy and why?

I never had either one but I'd go with Toyota if the have a transmission which are getting harder and harder to get.

Be careful get an older Toyota my 2024 just hit the recall list with the rest of the last 5-6 years of bad engines in the tundras the 35J engines have an issue with spinning the rear two main bearings. It’s a problem they refuse to fix sometimes they will replace the engine with the same engine again and some of those have even failed so do true diligence and check it out before you buy please

Good point. A solid transmission matters, especially if I’m miles from pavement.

I've owned 2 Tacomas and a Tundra currently over the past 20 years and never a problem with any of them. I just keep the oil changed on schedule and have never had to do a thing to any of them other than a new battery. My first Tacoma was a manual transmission and was great, didn't know you couldn't get a manual transmission any more??
