Summer can feel like a lull in the hunting world, but I try to use it to my advantage by checking gear and staying active. I'm usually keen on scouting and managing some land, but I admit I slack off a bit with the heat; just wondering how others tackle their summer prep for the upcoming season.

Fortunately, I'm to broken down and badly bent to hunt any more but I never really had a routine especially once I took up long bow hunting. To keep in shape to pull the darn thing back require continuous work out.

I started last Jan. going to the Y and getting in some kind of shape, have to @ 72, then working on a new load for the 300 WM,then a scope switch out on a couple of guns ,some reloading. By mid summer I've already putting the finishing touch's to the two rifle's I'll use this season the .270 WCF and the 300 WM. Putting in the miles in the side by side scouting, heading out today on a long one. Some rafting and fishing, garden in and doing good. Little project around the house getting done. So all and all going good.
