Winter fishing taught me to stop using my favorite lures. I realized that smaller lures in duller colors and a slower retrieve can really pay off when other methods fail. It took some getting used to!
That's a tough lesson to learn, but it's worth it. If you scale things down, use calm colors and take your time, you'll actually have better, more productive days fishing, even when winter makes it difficult.
